ATOM REP TOURNAMENT RULES AND PROCEDURES

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

UPON ARRIVAL:

Upon arrival to the tournament Coaches are to please check in with the Tournament Organizer, Karah McIntosh. Upon checking in, each team will receive a tournament welcome package, including an info packages, a welcome gift for each player and coach, 3 programs, as well as each player and coach will receive a Subway lunch ticket which is only valid in the auditorium during the lunch hours listed in our tournament program. Each package also includes a tournament survey. If you could please fill out the survey and return it to the Convenor before the end of the day that would be great.

 

Also, please have ready any outstanding paperwork such as official rosters and travel permits (if applicable). All players must be listed on the official roster.

 

TOURNAMENT FORMAT:

The top 4 teams will advance to Consolation (3rd & 4th place teams) and the Championship (2nd and 1st place teams) round.

 

A point system will be used awarding 10 points per game. A period win = 2, period tie = 1 point per team, game win = 4 points. (points awarded per period do not always coincide with the overall score but rather goals scored during that specific period)

 

In the event of a tie to determine the advancing teams the plus/minus system will be used.

 

GAME FORMAT:

All games will begin with a 2-minute warm-up. Clock will commence when Referees skate onto the ice.

 

Games including championship games will be 10 x 10 x 10 minute periods.

 

In the event of a 5 goal difference, during the last 5 minutes of the third period the clock will run straight time.

 

No time-outs will be allowed for regular games, where 2 time-outs will be allowed for championship games.

 

OVERTIME:  

If a game is tied at the end of regulation time, it will go straight to sudden-death 3 on 3 overtime for a 5 minutes.

 

If still tied after 5 minutes, move to shoot-out.

 

All 5 selected players will shoot once each in the shootout, with the most goals winning. In the event it is still a tie, the game will move to sudden-death shootout. Every player on the team must shoot once before any player is allowed to shoot a second time.

 

In the event of a shoot out, only one goal difference will be used for plus/minus


 

PLAYER OF THE GAME:

Following each game, a “Player of the Game” will be selected from each team. The selections will be made by the opposing coaches. PLEASE REMAIN ON THE ICE UNTIL AWARDS HAVE BEEN GIVEN.

 

CHAMPIONSHIP AND CONSOLATION GAMES

Following the Championship and Consolation games both teams will remain on the ice for the medal ceremony and player of the game awards.
